"I guarantee all my work.  If you ever have a problem with any of my repairs, I promise to take care of it!" -  Kris Tague

Kris Tague -- Shop Owner -- Trumpeter -- Husband & Father

Shop owner Kris Tague started playing trumpet in 5th grade with Jim Culbertson in Decatur Illinois. Jim was a world class trumpeter and is the father of jazz artist Brian Culbertson.

Kris moved to the Sacramento area in time to attend Sacramento High School, where he expanded his musical experience under Ike Paggett and Carolina Pongratz.

After graduating, he attended Point Loma Nazarene College in San Diego, CA. While there, Kris had the opportunity to study for a year with Allen Siebert, principal trumpet with the San Diego Symphony. Transferring to California State University Sacramento, Kris continued his studies briefly with Ed Higgins and finished his degree with Gary Dilworth.

While attending CSUS, Kris had the opportunity to spend time in the repair technician’s office learning the mechanics and intricacies of musical instruments. It soon became clear that Kris’ mechanical skills were a good fit for instrument repair. Baldwin Wong began teaching Kris and showing him the proper way to repair instruments. In 1993, Kris was hired at Northridge Music Center as an apprentice in the repair shop under Scott Mandeville. After working beside Scott for 12 ½ years, Scott left Northridge and Kris became the Shop Manager and Lead Technician. After 8 years as Shop Manager, Kris had the opportunity to purchase the repair shop from Northridge Music and today owns Tague Music.

Kris is an active semi-professional musician, playing with and leading the El Dorado Brass Band -- a civil war reenactment band; playing in Joyous Brass -- a British style brass band; as well as being a freelance performance musician. Kris has spent 10 years performing with the Camellia Symphony Orchestra and 4 years performing with the Townsend Opera Players in Modesto, CA.

Kris has been a member of the National Association of Professional Band Instrument Repair Technicians (NAPBIRT) since 1993. NAPBIRT is the international organization devoted to the continuing education and training of musical instrument repair technicians.

Kris was responsible for the high quality of repairs provided at Northridge Music for over 20 years and continues this tradition at Tague Band Instrument Services.
